Walking improves creativity
For those looking for inspiration, scientists recommend to go outside and take a walk. A study published in the journal of experimental psychology, showed that it works.
Researchers from Stanford University have conducted several small studies on the impact of Hiking on the creative rise. The subjects were asked to pass tests of creative abilities before and after a walk in the fresh air. The results of the study, wrote the newspaper The New York Times:
Almost every student has experienced an artistic Renaissance, just walking distance.
Many of them felt 60% increase in creativity. During and after the walk volunteers
showed much better results than before. The effect persisted even when they had finished walking.
Not necessarily to walk on fresh air.
Walking around the office is also useful, the researchers note. When volunteers strolled along the landscaped
Stanford University about eight minutes, they generated more creative ideas
than when just, were inside the premises or outside the same time. Walk in the fresh air had a slightly greater effect than walking on the corridor looking at blank walls.
The effect of the walk was short but significant. It's not clear why walking increases
creativity. Researchers believe that this may be related to mood elevation, or simply because physical exercise improves blood flow to the brain.
By the way, recently, American researchers found that regular walks increase the size of certain areas of the brain associated with thinking and memory.
So if you feel a lack of energy and inspiration, get up and go outside.
