Created ultrafast bionic hand that catches objects on the fly

Robot manipulator developed at the Federal Polytechnic School of Lausanne (Switzerland). Its main feature is an instant reaction to a flying object, about 0.05 seconds. During the tests, the robot was thrown a tennis ball, a bottle and other objects of irregular shape. He caught it all with extraordinary precision.
The length of the robotic manipulator is 1.5 meters. It was created to test robotic systems designed to capture moving objects. Normally, the robot arm is motionless. Before catching an abandoned object, the robot calculates the trajectory of its flight and generates the corresponding interception movement. To do this, several cameras are placed around it, recording the trajectory of the object, on the basis of which its kinetic model is created.

The unique robot has already been used. Perhaps soon he will be taken to low-Earth orbit, where he will be engaged in the disposal of space debris, which is becoming more and more abundant.
