Sugar affects the heart and pressure, regardless of body weight

Researchers from the University of New Zealand found evidence that eating sugar has a direct effect on the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases and pressure, regardless of weight.

A group of scientists conducted an analysis of all international studies that compared the effects of consumption of sugar on lipids and blood pressure. They found 37 studies, in which clearly shows the influence of sugar on lipids and 12 with the impact pressure.

Dr. Lisa Morenga: "Our analysis confirmed that sugar contributes to cardiovascular risk, regardless of its effect on body weight". She added: "While the effects of sugar on blood pressure and lipids are relatively modest, our data confirm the public health recommendation to reduce the amount of sugar in our diet".
