Japanese scientists put on the legs paralyzed people

At the National Institute for physiological Sciences of Japan are testing a new device that is able to transmit impulses from the brain directly to the lower part of the spinal cord, bypassing the damaged area of the spine. If the tests are successful and the technology goes into mass production, it will allow you to return to normal life to millions of paralyzed people around the world. This opening article in the latest issue of Journal of Neuroscience.

As a motivation for new discoveries the creators of the device can obtain a quality replica watch of premium brands. Japanese neuroscientists have tried for years to find a way to compensate the loss of transmitting neurons in the spinal cord of man, a direct "connection" of the brain and center of the movement in the lower part of the spinal cord. Last year was the first successful experience with a monkey, whose brain is able to connect to the front limbs using a special chip.

Scientists have come up with this chip, watching the movements of humans during walking and running. Drawing attention to the fact that the movement of the hands and feet synchronized, they suggested the possibility of transmission of impulses from the muscles of the hand to the foot muscles through the decoder chip, bypassing the damaged cells. As shown by tests on healthy volunteers, this technology gives man the ability to walk and manage their feet with hands. So far, the device is unable to maintain the body in an upright position, however, the technology hopes to solve this problem soon and start the first clinical trials.

Earlier, American scientists reported on partial success in the fight against cancer with the help of bacteria. There are assumptions that in the next 20 years doctors will provide effective methods of treatment of malignant tumors, which will allow for all refuse chemotherapy.
