Eco-furniture made from algae

Two graduate School of design the Royal Danish Academy of fine arts Jonas Edward (Edvard Jonas), and Nicholas Steenfatt (Nikolaj Steenfatt) – project Terroir has developed a new durable, lightweight, and durable material for furniture, lighting and accessories. It is based on seaweed and paper. Depending on the species of algae color varies from dark brown to light green.

Marine plants collected on the beaches of Denmark extending for over 8,000 km, is dried, ground into a powder and cook them glue, aided by viscous and adhesive alginate, which is contained in brown algae. Thus, the material is created from renewable resources.
