Elgin Park is a city where it’s always 1955, and not everything is what it seems.
This is a city that is not on the map, but there are pictures of it. Another strange thing about this place is that all its photos show the 1950s and 1960s. There are no earlier or later pictures. But how did this happen and where is the mysterious Elgin Park?
Elgin Park is located not on a map, but in the imagination of its creator and photographer Michael Paul Smith. This amazing man recreated the atmosphere of his youth with the help of very accurate models of cars and real landscapes, but without the help of a small camera there was not enough. The result of an unusual combination was a fictional, but completely plausible city - Elgin Park.
Michael Smith has a few secrets to creating fascinating images. The first mystery: for his photos, he always chooses only the real background - mostly well-preserved historical buildings in Winchester, Massachusetts, USA.
The second secret of the photographer is the “heroes” of the photos themselves – cars. And no matter how big and real they may seem, they are really just small models. Most of them are created by the photographer with his own hands, and some give him a gift, because since 2010, Mr. Smith has a lot of fans.
Sometimes Michael comes up with such ideas, to implement which you have not only to make a small replica of a car, but also to recreate houses, roads and entire streets.
Photoshop Michael, he says, uses only to create antiquities (using multiple filters) and nothing more.
In an interview with the New York Times, Mr. Smith said that his work creates the mood of his childhood. In addition, he specially takes pictures in which there are no people – because this gives everyone who saw the photo, fantasize. published
P.S. And remember, just by changing your consciousness – together we change the world!
