Factors that increase the level of "bad" cholesterol: Smoking; Being overweight or obese, overeating; Physical inactivity or lack of physical activity; Malnutrition with high content of trans fat (as contained in partially hydrogenated fats) in food high in carbohydrates (particularly digestible like sweets and confectionery), insufficient fiber and pectin, lipotropic factors, polyunsaturated fatty acids, minerals and vitamins; Occurs when the use of spirits, some viral diseases, taking certain medications;



Factors that reduce the level of "bad" cholesterol, are physical education, sport and general regular physical activity, quitting smoking and drinking hard liquor, food that does not contain animal fats. Cholesterol is also a major component of most gallstones.
