"Elektrofury" soon will appear on the roads of Sweden

If about new developments concerning greener roads , электромобилей and electrobuses , we constantly hear something, then elektrofury remained until recently for us "uncharted ground" . However, science and industry is not standing still. And now, in the province of Gävleborg in Sweden started the construction of the experimental electrified highway designed for trucks. The estimated cost of the project - 80 million Swedish crowns (€ 9, 44 million).

It is expected that construction of the road length of 2 kilometer section of highway E16 to be completed in April 2016. This motorway will be one of Europe's first road designed specifically for electric trucks (elektrofur). "Laboratory" tests for the project is still ongoing and conducted in a closed test track in Berlin (Germany). The goal for the new site in Sweden - running innovative technology in a natural environment and real traffic (traffic). Планируется, elektrofury with the two current collectors on the roof will go on the site of the Swedish roads over the past two years.

In this project put their investment not only the state governments of Sweden (transport service, energy agencies, the Office of innovations), but also private companies «Siemens» and «Scania», whose technology is mainly, and will be tested. Researchers hope that will be able to get enough data and information for the full launch of commercial operation of the said development.

We note that in August 2014 in the United States on the road between the port of Los Angeles and Long Beach area already upgraded thirty kilometer (30 km) stretch of highway, adapting it for the movement of freight electric. This project, known as «e-highway», was developed with the participation of «Volvo Group» and «Siemens».

Elektrofury from «Volvo» and «Siemens» equipped with a hybrid power plant - the internal combustion engine on the traditional fuels (diesel or liquefied hydrocarbons) and an electric motor. The car also has a regenerative braking system that provides additional battery power. Connecting to the power transmission lines (PTL) is carried out through a special pantograph rod-collectors, who for technical reasons is possible to connect and disconnect from the power line at a speed of 90 km / h. The design of the susceptor also allows the driver to maneuver elektrofury on the road in a relatively wide range (several bands) without interrupting the power supply. Many users will immediately notice the similarities presented elektrofury (see. Illustration) with the usual urban trolleybus.

Testing technology «e-highway» in August 2014 in the United States:

The main advantages of the technology «e-highway», which emphasize the company «Siemens», are the environmental component and the reduction of local emissions from heavy trucks to almost zero.

This is especially true for special short sections of roads between the objects of industry, such as described in the road between the port of California Los Angeles and warehouses in Long Beach, which daily ply more than 35,000 trucks. The exhaust gases from this truck is one of the sources of smog, observed periodically in the specified region. Still, the last question to users GT: Do you think this new product "elektrofuroy" or a "normal" cargo trolley?
This elektrofura!
This cargo trolley!
