Scania has tests hybrid bus with wireless charging

The Swedish manufacturer of trucks, buses, industrial and marine engines testing in the Northern region of the country the system of wireless (inductive) charging for buses.



According to the press service of Scania, for the first time in cold region of Sweden bus with wireless charging sent for testing. The company wants to check the operation of the relatively new public transport technology in more extreme climates. The inductive charging system mounted on the hybrid bus Scania Citywide LE4x2 with a 320-horsepower diesel engine with a volume of 9.0 liters and battery capacity of 56 kWh.

Taking this opportunity, the representatives of Scania reminded of the principle of the new technology. Near stops of public transport equipped with special segments for wireless charging. Bus drivers stop at them and while the passengers enter and leave the interior battery pack vehicle charging "on the air". Only 10 minutes of charging so that the bus could drive the 10-mile route.

The cost of the project for the construction stops with a system of wireless charging sostavila 38 million Swedish kronor (about 265 million Russian rubles). Nearly 60% of the price to the project itself invested Scania. The Swedish energy Agency has issued nearly 10 million Swedish kronor (about 70 million) on research and development in this area.





Earlier it was reported that MAN and Scania have agreed on mutual development. Manufacturers will use a shared platform, engines, transmission, exhaust, chassis parts.
