With the help of biotechnology in the kidneys can grow mouse teeth

Japanese biotechnologists succeeded in growing a real tooth fabric, pre-implanted into the kidney of laboratory mouse.

Japanese scientists have previously grown mouse teeth in the laboratory. However, this dental implant grew directly into the jawbone tissue. Such a tooth take root 40 days. Growing artificial tooth in the kidney tissue, researchers have significantly reduced the formation of a new tooth.

The new method "saves about ten days" in comparison with those that have been used before, the head of research, professor at Tokyo University of Science Takashi Tsuji. "But we have not yet reached the stage of human trials," - he added: "We have made the first stepĀ».

The team, including researchers from the Tokyo Medical and Dental University and Tohoku University, combined the different stem cells, forming a so-called "grain". Cells "grain" began to share and grow, interacting with each other, forming a full-fledged dental tissue. Then the grown "grain" packed into a tiny piece of plastic and implanted into the kidney of laboratory mice, where they continued the formation of the tooth.

The moment when the tooth has already been established, it was transplanted into another mouse gum. Mouse respond to stimulation of the implanted tooth and felt pain. This means that the tooth caught in the oral environment - connected to the nerve channels and the blood vessels as a "realĀ».

The researchers hope that eventually it will be possible to use this method for growing stem cells workable artificial organs for subsequent transplantation.
