In 1984, Yamantaka Eye founded the Japanese noise-performance group called «Hanatarash». The name translates as "crybaby" or "runny nose". Group in their work used a variety of unusual objects to create noise, including power tools and heavy equipment.

Thanks to these concerts Hanatarash quickly gained notoriety. During one of them, for example, Ai dead cat ripped in half with a machete on the stage. In another he tied to his back and a circular saw seriously injured his leg. In the third Ai broke the wall of the club bulldozed.
