In 1984, Yamantaka Eye founded the Japanese noise-performance group called «Hanatarash». The name translates as "crybaby" or "runny nose". Group in their work used a variety of unusual objects to create noise, including power tools and heavy equipment.
Thanks to these concerts Hanatarash quickly gained notoriety. During one of them, for example, Ai dead cat ripped in half with a machete on the stage. In another he tied to his back and a circular saw seriously injured his leg. In the third Ai broke the wall of the club bulldozed. And before the concert in Tokyo in 1985, all the spectators who came were asked to sign a waiver to the musicians at the possibility of injury, before allowing them into the room.
The show was stopped when it became clear that Ai was going to throw on stage a Molotov cocktail. Group «Hanatarash» banned from performing until 1990, and then was forced to abandon its "business card" - violence on the scene.
