At least five thousand people have fled the war zone in Sri Lanka, according to a source in the country's armed forces.
This was made possible thanks to the fact that troops destroyed a long wall of earth, built militants group "Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam", which protected the coastal strip occupied by Tamils.
"The troops seized the coastal strip and helped to go out 5 thousand civilians. Evacuation continues, "- said the representative of the armed forces Udaya Nanayakkara.
At the same time, at least 17 people were injured when a suicide bomber blew himself up in a crowd of refugees fleeing the war zone and sent to the regions controlled by the army.
