Authors of the project, Nona Yehia and Penny MakBridzh, are going to build an additional building adjacent to the parking lot. According to them, the cost of growing food in a greenhouse will be lower than the purchase price of imported vegetables in the city. All this is possible thanks to the new method of growing plants.



Thus, the plants will be planted on special rotating platform, so that each plant during the daylight hours will receive an equal amount of sunlight (greenhouse transparent), sufficient for normal growth and fruiting. Thanks to this method will provide savings - plan to use artificial light to a minimum.



Upper tier "vertical farms" will be designed to have adult plants, which will bear fruit. It was so plants need the maximum amount of sunlight. With the new design type vertical farm will produce about 20 tons of tomatoes, 2 tons of herbs, about 17 tons of green plants (lettuce, etc.).

The total area of ​​the farm - 9 * 45 meters, the authors of the project argue that the vegetables will be grown as much as possible to grow by 23 acres of land usual. This will use up to 90% less water and less than 100% Pesticide (probably meaning that virtually no pesticides are used) than when the conventional method of cultivation of vegetables.



It should be noted that this project has received partial funding of $ 36 thousand dollars on Kickstarter in 2013. Another part of the investment will provide the authorities of the town.
