In China, building an eco-city
In China, building an eco-city, combining the charm of the city and country life
This project combined the advantages of urban life with a life close to nature and aims to stop the exodus of Chinese city dwellers into the countryside.
For more than 12 years, the Chinese government has plans to resettle 250 million residents of the villages and farms in new, just built by the city. At the same time, many city dwellers tired of the noise, smoke and other unpleasant aspects of city life, dreaming of escape back outside the city. Polluted air in Beijing, for example, many experts compare with the nuclear winter.
The new project, which is currently being implemented in the area of Kunming (in south-west China), and should combine the charm of the city and rural life - his buildings are being built in the middle of the farm.
Designed by French architect Vincent Caleb "garden city" will unfold in nine acres of land on the site of an abandoned industrial area.
Each of the spacious, light-flooded homes energy self-sufficient - that is, it produces more energy than it is able to consume. The sources of energy are solar panels and geothermal pumps (ie devices to receive heat energy from the ground). The unused energy will be stored in special fuel cells, and used, for example, for charging electric cars, which, along with bicycles, will be the main means of transportation.
Outside, the house will be surrounded by vast gardens and orchards. "Our goal is to bring back organic farming at the heart of the city, at the center of its consumption - said Caleb. - This will be the urban landscape without fences separating the villas, maintaining neighborly relations urban and urban social relations ".
The eco-city will be three types of houses, each with its own modern features. "Mobius Villa" to the form of a loop and combines a vegetable garden on the roof with photovoltaic glass. Glass walls will be fitted with special shutters that will automatically adjust the flow of heat and light. Feature of "Mountain Villa" panel will be filled with algae that will produce bio-hydrogen. "Shell Villa" is built around a wind turbine.
It is unknown when the new eco-city will be ready to receive its first tenants. But it is likely that the city will become a model for other Chinese cities.
