Cave cities Kappadokkii

This place is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site and is considered one of the most attractive tourist destinations on the territory of modern Turkey. Here there are both underground and ground settlement.

The first settlement in the area began to appear in the 1 thousand. BC. Due to the low hills of soft tuff, quickly Kappadokkiya was mastered by people as habitable space. The absence of forests made the region the most convenient for "permanent residence". Moreover, during the time of the Hittites practiced here for apartment buildings. Initially soft tufa, hardens when exposed to wind, which allowed these settlements survive to the present time.
