August is the time when tomatoes are actively filled with juice and begin to ripen. Many gardeners mistakenly believe that during this period, plants do not need additional feeding. But that's not true. It is important to support plants so that they continue to give a bountiful harvest and delight with delicious fruits. It is at this time that tomatoes need certain minerals such as potassium, magnesium, nitrogen, boron and phosphorus. These elements contribute to the accumulation of sugar and aromatic substances in the fruit, as well as improve photosynthesis.
Feeding tomatoes: the necessary substances potassium is the most important element for the maturation of tomatoes. It can be provided with wood ash or potassium sulfate. Wood ash contains not only potassium, but also many trace elements such as zinc and iron. To prepare the solution, mix 1 glass of ash with 10 liters of water and water the plants.
Nitrogen is necessary to maintain growth and form new fruits. If the top of the stem becomes thin and the leaves thin, this is a signal of a lack of nitrogen. Use urea or magnesium nitrate by adding one tablespoon to a bucket of water.
Magnesium and boron are important elements that can be added with boric acid and green fertilizer. To prepare a solution of boric acid, you need to stir a teaspoon of powder in a bucket of water and spray the leaves and fruits.
If you prefer to do without chemical fertilizers, there are natural alternatives that will also effectively support your tomatoes. One of these methods is the use of wood ash and green fertilizer.
Let's start with the ash solution. To prepare this solution, you need to mix 0.5 kg of ash with a bucket of water, insist and add a tablespoon of urea. Watering plants with this solution should be under the root.

Do not forget to alternate mineral and natural fertilizers so that plants receive all the necessary elements. This approach will not only improve the quality of tomatoes, but also allow you to enjoy their taste throughout the fall!
