How are Generation Alpha children different and why do they shock teachers so much?

We have heard about generation Z, about millennials and baby boomers too. And from what year did the Alpha generation - the most reckless of all - come into its own? These kids understand technology better than their 30-year-old uncles and aunts. But teachers call the experience of working with Alphas the most traumatic of their lives. Let's figure out when iPad Kids appeared, and why scientists predict they will save this world (or destroy it).

Since what year is Generation Alpha a lot of memes and jokes have been invented about the early adulthood of Generation Z teenagers. Having crossed the 16-year mark, yesterday's mother's princesses dashingly jump into swimsuits with push-up and go to a foam party to shoot TikToks with their rapper boyfriend. But the zoomers, who were born in the 2000s and early 2010s, turned out to be still flowers. The honorary title of obnoxious berries was taken by a new generation of Alpha children.

Now the heirs of the millennials and older zoomers, also known as the iPad kids, rule the roost. They grow up with modern technologies and learn about the Internet almost from the cradle. Their first toy is a smartphone. At the age of 5, they apply makeup like a guru and start using anti-aging care.

These children will either save our world or destroy it: scientists have not yet agreed on one opinion. Yes, generational conflict is not a new topic. But unruly Alphas are unlike anyone we've ever known.

Theory of Generations In 1991, American historian William Strauss and writer Neil Howe presented the research work “Generations”. The authors of the book analyzed generations over the last 500 years and came to the conclusion that society develops in cycles. Every 20 years there is a change of generations, and their representatives have similar thinking patterns and values.

According to the generalized classification of generations of the XX–XXI centuries, the following are distinguished:

  1. Silent people , born from 1928 to 1945. Due to war, repression and censorship, they rarely share their opinions outside the family. As children, they tried to be quiet, follow the rules and not stick out their “I”.

  2. Baby Boomers (1946 to 1964). The war generation of optimists. Patriots prone to starting a family early. These people love to lecture, look down on zoomers and believe that it was they who ended the normal birth rate.
  3. Xers (1965–1980). These people grew up during the fall of the Iron Curtain and perestroika. They are persistent, responsible and independent. We are ready to work for the benefit of our family and homeland.
  4. Gamers, or Millennials (1981–1996). They survived the collapse of the Union, the beginning of the globalization process, life with and without the Internet. Freedom-loving, self-confident, mobile and ambitious. Self-development is valued more than family. Supporters of late marriages and free education of children.

  5. Zoomers (1997–2010). Although these people were born in the age of digitalization, from a young age they know how to feel their body and emotions well. They are more tolerant and resourceful, do not tolerate boundaries, and live here and now. They crave new sensations, not always understanding their consequences.

Generation Alpha Meet: this is the first generation entirely born in the 21st century. Namely after 2011. From an early age, they cannot imagine their life without new technologies. Alphas are divided into the younger category (up to 8 years old) and the older category (from 8 to 14).

This generation will produce the most technically literate people. Instead of dolls, they prefer a tablet and literally live on the global network. It seems that the next generation will generally move into virtual reality and live in VR glasses.

Alphas are the little Julius Caesars of our century. They can simultaneously surf the social network, watch videos on Youtube, be on a video call with a friend whom they have never seen offline, and simultaneously broadcast live on TikTok. It is not surprising that these little ones manage to get used to high-tech so well. After all, today some parents give iPads to their one-year-old toddlers!

These are accelerators in a cube. From an early age, they begin to dominate their parents, impose their own rules and plan for the future. Almost since kindergarten they have been trying to communicate with adults on equal terms. According to statistics, 75% of Alpha children begin to take care of their mental health from a young age: from the age of 8–10 they go to a psychologist and can defend their opinion to their parents.

Alpha teenagers have strong self-esteem, are savvy in psychology and are already planning their own business. Many brands are already adapting to them. After all, a large number of these kids begin to make online purchases while walking under the table.

When will the Alpha generation change this world? Such a leap in development is inspiring, but on the other hand... Scientists believe that Alphas will become long-livers. They will make a digital revolution in education and robotize their lives to the maximum. They will begin to master 5 specialties and take ecology seriously. It is through iPad children that we will determine how harmful technology affects people.

But now the new generation is suffering from attention deficit, increased anxiety and loneliness. Alphas also create big problems for their teachers. They deny the authority of adults, have trouble remembering school dates and terms, and have poor socialization skills.

The health of the new generation also does not give optimistic forecasts. Every year the percentage of children with poor metabolism, abnormalities and developmental pathologies is growing. Take away their phone and you will immediately run into aggression and hysteria. But are the children to blame for this?

Parents of rebels: share of responsibility We would like to look into the eyes of the mothers of 5-year-old beauty bloggers who use anti-aging cosmetics! But these ladies often take part in the filming of videos themselves and even write the script, calculating future income in their heads.

Some parents will do anything for views. Even if it harms their child. For example, they transfer children to a trendy diet without gluten and animal proteins without medical prescriptions. And then they wonder why children’s digestion suffers.

These little ones need to review the educational system and adapt it to their needs. But we need to start with the parents. Future mothers and fathers of Alphas should learn the basics: how to properly feed and raise babies. And most importantly, do not shift your responsibilities to grandmothers, teachers and TikTok. I wonder when the Alpha generation will be able to reach out to their mothers and fathers?
