Why our paving slabs are all cracked in a year, and the Germans have been lying like new for years

Why? pavement Do you have the same under your house as all over town? Can't you come up with something original, new, different from the standard scheme? You really can. But in fact, there are several reasons why this is not so easy. Today we will talk about the beauty of the city, which few people notice behind the tsokot of heels and the knocking of car wheels.

By the way, if you take the country with the most well-groomed and beautiful tiles as a benchmark, then this, of course, will be Germany. The Germans in general are very scrupulous people and know a lot of things. So driving through the towns of old Europe, you will often catch yourself thinking that you are even a little envious of what the local periphery and suburbs look like. It literally looks like a postcard.

There are 3 main reasons why tiles in Germany and some other European countries look head-higher than their neighbors. Even if we talk about the old paving stone, whose age has exceeded 50 years, it looks relatively like an eye treat. Unlike the misunderstanding that falls under your shoes a year after installation.

Germans do not hesitate to allocate funds from the municipality for a permanent inspection of tiles. Workers literally conduct surveys of old and new paving stones, find damaged elements and quickly carry out restoration work. In some cases, make a replacement, but necessarily in compliance with strict standards. New tiles should visually and technically fit into the pattern and do not stand out among other similar tiles. The head of the entire brigade is personally responsible for the result.

Thus, not only the visual beauty of the old coating is preserved, but also the safety of pedestrians and cars.

Paving slabs in Germany are also regularly cleaned. With the help of special mechanized means and cleaning solutions, the tile is washed, traces of oil, dirt and other contaminants are removed. This not only preserves the aesthetic appearance of sidewalks, but also prevents the occurrence of dangerous situations associated with a slippery surface or falling on a hard surface.

As a result, the Germans wear shoes for much longer than the rest. And the original colors, such as sneakers, remain that way for a very long time.

Preventive care Germany actively carries out preventive care of paving slabs. Regular monitoring and repair of local defects, laying antifriction coatings on slippery areas and marking of sidewalks with special reflective elements - all this guarantees pedestrian safety and minimizes the risks of accidents.

Every few years, the Germans treat the tile with special solutions that not only preserve its beautiful appearance, but also repel moisture. Thus, in winter, the treated tiles do not collapse under the onslaught of the elements and heavy rains are also not afraid of it. In addition, here you need to say “thank you” and quality showers. But that's another story altogether.

In the post-Soviet space, tile care is not so carefully and there are reasons for this. We found at least a few. Perhaps there are even more. But on the surface clearly stand out:

Financial restrictions

In the context of the limited budget of municipalities, funds allocated for the care of sidewalks often do not allow for regular and effective repair and maintenance of paving slabs. In addition, teams are recruited from non-professionals in their field, so the result is not long in coming. Therefore, all work is done according to the same patterns, leaving no room for something new.

Low priority

In countries of Eastern Europe or the former Union, paving slab care is not a priority for city authorities. Instead, the focus is on other aspects of urban development, such as building and renovating roads, park improvement, and the like. This leads to the lack of systematic updating of sidewalks or, at least, maintaining their qualitative appearance.

In addition to financial and organizational reasons, an important factor is the lack of consciousness and responsibility of citizens and businesses. It is common to see cases where tile is damaged or broken, for example due to improper stacking or vehicles, but no one takes responsibility for its restoration. No one cares about the perfect pattern of paving slabs.

Special attention should be paid to the heads of brigades, who, according to tradition, feel rather frivolous, despite the quality of the work done by their team. If in Germany there is a strict accounting, and any failures of workers are strictly recorded and dealt with by the whole team. In our latitudes, even for a frank marriage, no one will be detained, and the maximum that can overtake careless hardworkers is an oral reprimand and nothing more.

Obviously, a fundamentally different approach to the same case brings fundamentally different results. This can be attributed not only to paving slabs, but it, as an example, is also suitable. On the other hand, the owners of private territories can draw the right conclusions for themselves and try to improve their property, as ordinary Germans do. As a result, a beautiful view and safety will be ensured for a long time.
