What you need to know about people in the pre-digital era
There has always been a gap between generations. Young people did not accept the principles and foundations of elders, parents did not understand why their children do certain actions. This is not the case today, but it is in today’s world that the problem has worsened. The rapid development of technology and global changes in society have done their job.
Today's edition. "Site" I decided to philosophize a little bit about it. We were inspired by the thoughts of Andrei Konchalovsky. modern and the generation that was raised before him.
We live in the digital age of technology. In a world where information is available, machines have replaced many workers in factories, and colonizing Mars no longer seems like an impossible dream. Modern young people are raised in this era, they grow up in a completely different world than their parents grew up. And sometimes this causes total misunderstanding.
Andrei Konchalovsky writes: I want to answer a question that arises in the minds of young people. They rightly believe that this is a new digital age and everything has changed. What, they think, can a person brought up in another, pre-digital, era give me?
And that seems to be the case. What can these people tell a child who has been able to use the Internet since the age of three and can Google it himself? At first glance, everything is obvious: any information is on the Internet and we do not need any additional knowledge from the older generation. Indeed, what they might know if they grew up in the pre-digital era. But this is only at first glance.
The director says, Well, first of all, it depends on your personal desire. Once, it seems, the Buddha said that you should treat everyone you meet as your teacher. This means that you can learn from anyone and in any situation. No one will teach you, but you can learn.
Secondly, you need to understand what you can learn from the first person you meet. Not to mention the teacher. It doesn’t matter which age is digital or not.
That’s what every young person needs to understand now. In general, the more information around us, the less we know. We learn from other people or from our own experience. And experience is what people in the pre-digital era can give us. They have life behind them: ups and downs, incredible stories and a special view of the world.
Two generations of people think differently. One is closer to the old postulates, others are striving for freedom and tolerance. It is impossible to compare them, but this does not mean that there is nothing to learn from the previous generation.
“The biggest problem today is that few people know which questions to answer. But if you put the question wrong, then you will not need the answer. And then it depends only on you what you want to know, the director emphasizes.
The Internet has a lot of useful information, but there is no less garbage. When you do not know what you are looking for, you only find what you are given. It's the same with people. If you don’t know what you need to get out of an older person, if you don’t know the question you want to answer, you end up with nothing.
If you can figure out what you would like to know and what answers to get, then it will not matter what you want. period will be in front of you. Anyone can become a teacher for you. The main thing is to drop stereotypes, prejudices and get the lessons you need. What do you think of that?
