The idea to film the life of his father came to the mind of the younger daughter of chansonnier – the famous actress Anastasia Vertinskaya. But financial difficulties prevented the idea from being implemented quickly back in 2014. And only in 2018 the work was resumed.

Interestingly, the main role was not casting, because the screenwriter and director Avdotya Smirnova immediately chose the right actor. Marianne Vertinskaya praised the script for how well her father's young years were portrayed. The eldest daughter of chansonnier also added that the creators of the series managed to accurately convey the selfless kindness to people that so distinguished Vertinsky.

However, there was something that did not like the daughters of the legendary artist. Both Marianne and Anastasia agreed that it is wrong to shoot a series about such an outstanding singer and not to acquaint the viewer with his real voice, his songs.

On the other hand, both women admitted that if Vertinsky’s real voice were in the series, it would be almost impossible to find an actor for the lead role. After all, in addition to external similarities, he would have to have a similar voice and artistry, as well as be able to sing. That would be very difficult.

Recall that the daughters of Alexander Vertinsky gave birth to his second wife – actress and artist Lydia Tsirgvava. Marianne was born on July 28, 1943, and Anastasia on December 19, 1944. At that time, Alexander Nikolaevich was far over 50. He loved his daughters too. He even dedicated one of his most famous songs to them – “Daughters”.
