The future actor was born in the city of Pavlovsky Posad (65 km east of Moscow) in a very ordinary family. My father is a mechanic in a weaving factory, my mother is a kindergarten teacher.
The boy had to grow up early, because the war began when he was only 13 years old. Then the young Tikhonov went to the craft school to get the profession of turner. And after graduation he worked in a specialty at a military plant, made his contribution to the overall victory.

In his free time from study and work, the young guy and his friends went to the local cinema. Even then, Vyacheslav Tikhonov admired the work of such masters of the acting workshop as Boris Babochkin, Nikolai Cherkasov, Peter Aleynikov, Mikhail Zharov. At the same time, Tikhonov himself dared to believe that one day he would also become an actor. And even the difficult wartime could not take away this dream from the young man.
In 1944, Vyacheslav even began preparations for admission to the Automechanical Institute. But when there was an opportunity to enter VGIK, Tikhonov did not think for a long time. And already in 1945 he was in the students of the great master - teacher Boris Bibikov.
At first, the guy was rejected. But when the entrance exams were over, Boris Vladimirovich still decided to enroll in his course promising young man with a spectacular appearance. And did not lose, because Tikhonov was an extremely diligent student, and graduated with honors.

The debut of Tikhonov in the cinema took place already in 1948. Then the novice actor immediately played a prominent role in the two-part film The Young Guard. The film, based on real events, told about the underground struggle of a group of Komsomol members with the occupation troops from 1942 to 1943. The audience welcomed the painting warmly. And the performers of the main roles instantly became popular actors.
However, for a long time in Vyacheslav Tikhonov, directors did not notice a great talent. Therefore, mainly focused on its outstanding external data. And they offered appropriate roles.
