Why trains are not quoted in the United States and what an American woman understood when she took a ride on our train
We have something interesting about trains. A certain American woman decided to ride in a compartment car from Novosib to Moscow, so her road resulted in a full two days. The first, so to speak, experience she decided to share. How do you think it turned out to be her? train-trip?
Editorial "Site" I read with interest the notes from her travel diary. It is always interesting to know how foreigners see things that we have long known, understandable and do not cause any doubt. Who is really surprised by a train ride? Exactly.
Of course, before the trip, she decided to collect all possible information about which car to choose. What things to bring with you. She bought slippers, several bottles of water, packaged tea, instant noodles, some chocolate and oatmeal, which turned out to be buckwheat. You know the language barrier!
In addition, she collected wet wipes, bought a disinfectant and all sorts of other things. She chose the top shelf in the compartment, which cost her about $150. She wanted to choose the first class (sleeping car, if in our opinion), but since she booked a ticket on the website, she could not understand and decided that such cars in the composition in principle there are no.
At the point of departure, three young men sat down with her. She greeted them in Russian: "Hello!" They, in turn, said hello, too, one of them helped drag the suitcase onto the shelf above the door, then all three came out of the compartment. Obviously, so she could change and fit in. Soon they knocked and came back.
The American was surprised by the size of the coupe, she thought it would be larger. In addition, she decided that climbing to the second shelf is not so easy. She was also not clear about the rules on whether to sit on the bottom shelf, because in fact it is a bed. However, the Russians made it clear to her that she could sit down whenever and as long as she wanted.
The first few hours a traveler explored all available surroundings to better explore wagonwork. She was pleased that the dumpster is quite large and the conductor constantly makes sure that it is not clogged with garbage. But the toilet seemed rather small and uncomfortable. She was most surprised when, pressing the flush pedal, she saw the sleepers running below.
She also failed to wash her hands the first time. She twisted both taps, but the water never came. I had to ask for help from Russian companions. One of them took her back to the toilet and showed that there was a lever at the bottom of the tap that needed to be pressed. Who would have thought? Finally, I was able to wash my hands.
A great discovery for her was the wagon. boiler. She thought it was a samovar and kept calling it that. An unlimited number of approaches when you can brew tea, coffee, noodles or quick porridge. The American hung out at the boiler quite often, just because she was bored, and this is at least some variety.
As it turns out, the ticket price includes food. When the conductor offered to make an order, she initially refused, fearing that it would be expensive. But the companions intervened again and made it clear that there would be no need to pay anything. She agreed to something standard, and she was later brought buckwheat porridge with chicken. Although the food was hot, the girl did not like its taste.
While she was eating, fellow travelers asked her why she hadn't bought a plane ticket. Through Google translate, she tried to explain that it was a fan, an experience, an adventure. But the Russians don’t seem to understand it. They went out at night in Omsk and for a while she was driving alone and then fell asleep. In the morning there were other passengers in her compartment. Two women who turned out to be sisters and a man.
Asked if she was afraid to travel alone, she said she felt safe, which seemed to calm her fellow travelers a little. Later, she tried to get into the restaurant car, she wanted to read a book at the table, but there she was suddenly strictly pointed to the door, and she realized that just sit here will not work, you need to order something.
By an incredible coincidence, her next companions were an English-speaking couple from South Africa. It turned out that some of their relatives live in these places. They also told our American woman that while she was sleeping, the train overcame uralAnd she missed the magnificent scenery. This upset her, as the plans were to look at nature.
That was probably one of the reasons she decided to take this trip. However, according to her, it is quickly boring, because although there are many greenery and beautiful views, they are still quite monotonous. By the end of the journey, she had run out of all the wet wipes, as it was the only way to "wash." Because there was no shower on the train, she felt dirty.
Despite this, she would repeat this trip again, only changing something. First of all, I wouldn’t go alone, I would still have more fun with a friend, I would have picked up more fruits and sandwiches, which are normally stored in foil. And if you could choose a more diverse landscape, it would be great!
Perhaps it is good that the American did not dare to go in the carriage. Surely her impressions would have been a little brighter. Write in the comments, do you practice? railingAnd then read the article about which European cities do not want to return. Thank you for staying with us!
