A group of scientists from the University of electrical and computer engineering Utah state have created "smart glasses" that can automatically follow focus lenses. Information about the invention published in a special issue of the journal "Optics Express".
Bifocals will soon be superseded by "smart glasses" created by a group of scientists led by a University Professor electrical and computer engineering Utah state Carlos Mastrangelo. Working out allows you to adjust the focus automatically lenses regardless of the location of the object.
Lenses placed in a special frame containing control electronics and battery. Connected by a bridge, which is a measure of the distance from the lens to the object. When a user looks at an object, the device within 14 milliseconds measures the distance and gives a control command the actuators for the required change of curvature of the lens.Scientists created the special lens with flexible membranes between which the injected glycerin. The back membrane of the lens is connected to the special actuators, which alter the curvature of lens and, accordingly, the focal distance between them and eyes.
Before the first use of "smart glasses" should be in a smartphone install the special app. This is done once for the entire life of the glasses. published
