Scientists found DNA from an unknown human ancestors

In the genome of a modern human can detect traces of the ancient not only Homo sapiens but other species of extinct hominids — human ancestors, who lived concurrently with Homo sapiens.

It was considered that the DNA belonged to the Neanderthals and Denisovskoe people, but with the opening of Dr. Ryan Bolender (Ryan Bohlender) from the University of Texas, became aware of the existence of yet another ancestor of modern humans.

The Melanesians have an interesting feature: despite the dark skin, their hair are generally bright. According to scientists, is the result of genetic mutation.

Using genetic modeling Bolender and his colleagues found that the Melanesians — the people of Fiji, Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea, New Caledonia and other Pacific Islander — bear in their genome inclusions of "foreign" ancient DNA that do not belong to any known human ancestors.

The findings of Dr. Bolender confirmed data of another study, which was conducted by the staff of the natural history Museum of Denmark. The study's lead author evolutionary biologist Eske Willerslev (Eske Willerslev) analyzed the DNA of natives of Papua New Guinea, where he also found traces of a mysterious ancestor.

"We do not know to which group they belonged to, says Willerslev. — But we suppose it could be Homo erectus (Homo erectus) or Homo floresiensis (Man Florensky) is a hypothetical dwarf hominids from Indonesia, also known as Hobbits."

Whoever recently discovered ancestor, one thing is clear — the ancient people had contact with other species of their own kind, and we still carry the evidence of these contacts.
