Eco-friendly student space on the University campus in Copenhagen





Tietgenkollegiet is an unusual, round building, student dormitory, located in Orestad, near Copenhagen. Designed by Lundgaard and Tranberg, the project of this hostel not only represents the most interestingly organized living space for students.





Tietgenkollegiet complex have communal kitchens, workshops, cafes, music rooms and a patio for entertaining. This is an amazing home for students makes adults regret that they can no longer return to the University.





Tietgenkollegiet the round building has seven stories high and contains 360 rooms, United by twelve in blocks. Each room has Windows on the outside of the circle panoramic view of the canal and the other area. Common areas, halls and kitchens surround the courtyard. Round design creates a sense of equality and unity, while the unique alternation of rooms, Windows and terraces is very functional.





The facade is made from a unique copper alloy, and it has sliding partitions in the traditional southern Chinese Hakka architecture. Alloy allows you to keep walls clean and protect them from external influences, and in time it will get dark tone that will prevent the frequent redecoration of the building. American oak and glass partitions are alternated around the perimeter, creating a spectacular facade. In addition, it provides fresh air and sunlight.





Inside the round building has a concrete flooring, which makes it easy to remove them. And eco-friendly birch plywood blocks break them up into small rooms. Hand-picked materials also help to isolate common areas of the building. Students love bright colored curtains, washing machines and mailboxes that perfectly with simple, natural materials that surround them.
