In the UK officially renamed the famous Clock tower of Westminster Palace, more commonly known as big Ben. Now it is called the Elizabeth tower in honour of the diamond jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II.


At the renaming ceremony at the foot of the tower was presided over by the speaker of the house of Commons John Berkou. The UK authorities took the decision in June. The renaming was voted more half of members of the house of Commons and the leaders of the three main parliamentary factions.
