Mud volcanoes of Java

Beleduc Kuva — mud crater in Wonosari in Central Java. Every two or three minutes the volcano erupts in a mud slurry, followed by emissions of white vapor. In the language of the locals "bledug" means — explosion, "kuwur" — to dissipate. For many years, this place is a popular tourist destination.

Mud volcano Beleduc identical mud flow in Sidoarjo, which brought many troubles to local people, forcing them to move from their homes. But Beleduc, on the contrary, helped people earn money on tourists and travelers. The locals make a living selling salt to visitors. This salt is obtained from volcanic sediment, which they dried and screened in an open field.

Visitors can observe a mud geyser at a distance of 10 to 20 meters. Eruptions from time to time may appear in different places, but there are two spots where the geyser regularly erupts.

Legend has it that the explosion comes out of the tunnel, which mystically connects this place with the Indian ocean. In fact it is a natural phenomenon caused by the release of methane gas from the earth's crust.
