Sequoia. Giant tree
Some of the most amazing trees on our planet — the redwoods. These majestic giants thousands of years to grow upwards and outwards and to date are the highest plants in the world.
Giant sequoias are a subspecies of cypress. The sight of these huge trees, whose trunks and crowns go for tens of meters up to the sky, involuntarily admired. The most ancient of the now famous redwoods has more than 3.5 thousand years. The average height of trees is about 60 meters, but there are a whole grove with a height of over 90 meters. To date, there are about fifty redwoods, whose height exceeds the 105-meter mark.
The highest currently known trees of our planet is Sequoia Hyperion, which grows in Redwood National Park near San Francisco. The height of this giant is of 115.5 meters.
There is an interesting subspecies of the sequoias — sequoiadendron having lower height but larger diameter trunks. The first and the largest Sequoia in the world refers to this subspecies, this is of 83.8-meter "General Sherman", the base diameter of which is equal to 11.1 m, and the coverage of the barrel — of 31.3 meters. The volume of wood is 1487 m3.
Thanks to the huge square trunks, the wooden house of fallen trees were even arranged a small café and dance floor.
