Active volcano Bromo on the island of Java

The volcano Bromo is the most famous on the island of Java. And not because he claims the title of highest peak of the island (compared to other major peaks it is quite small) or the most active volcano in the world (this title belongs to Merapi). Its appeal is not in the size or something else, and in the beautiful surrounding landscape, as well as accessibility. The opportunity to climb to the edge of the crater, and enjoy the indescribable beauty made the Bromo volcano, a popular tourist attraction of Indonesia. He became one of the most iconic symbols of Indonesia, the hallmark of this country, one of the most popular types of Souvenirs, the most common image on postcards and stamps.

This region of the world is in the band of the Pacific volcanic ring of fire, which is about 90% of the world's earthquakes. No country in the world you will not find such a large number of volcanoes, active and extinct. Of the 20 000 Islands Indonesia, the vast majority were formed by volcanoes. More than one third of active volcanoes of our planet has shaped the rugged landscape of this beautiful country. Volcanoes have shaped the culture and religion of the people of Indonesia, had an impact on the development of agriculture, construction of cities and villages. And now they contribute to the development of tourism.

Despite the environmental pollution and overpopulation (Java island the size of new York state, and it is home to 165 million people — about half the population of the United States), the island has remained untouched corners of pristine nature, concentrated mainly in the national parks. National Park Bromo-Merger-Semeru, is one such.

The area around the volcano Bromo is inhabited by tenggerese, one of the few Hindu communities left on Java island. But religion for tengeru not play such an important space for residents in Bali. The total number of tengeru is about 600,000 and they reside in 30 villages scattered around the national Park. For many visitors, the appearance is lean and tanned Tenggara wrapped in a poncho, a moving pony among the rocky peaks, the scenery more resembles Peru than Indonesia.
