A giant hamster wheel as a means of transportation
The pursuit of his dream can cause a person to create extraordinary things, capable to bring to its implementation. For example, Chris Todd (Chris Todd) in his desire to cross the Irish sea did not go the easy way and use something that was invented before. He created his own craft called "Treadalo".
It represents a giant hamster wheel height in human height, mounted on two floats, allowing the whole structure to stay afloat. The principle of this self-made raft is that when someone runs it on the mesh frame, the wheel turns and thus moves through the water. His vicious circle he gathered with friends for more than 11 months, because he had to pass no less 66 miles (slightly more than 106 km).
However, despite the apparent strength and the effectiveness of the design journey ended, barely having time to begin. After 9 hours of sailing was that the spokes of a wheel unable to cope with adverse weather conditions and too strong waves. They began to bend and warp the design. Therefore, the 35-year-old traveller was forced to flee by boat. But the journey was supposed to take only 48 hours of non-stop movement.
But returning back to Wales, never lost hope for the fulfillment of their dreams and are currently raising funds for a new swimming. He plans to repair and strengthen his ship, given the now-known weak points of the design in the near future to travel again. All he needs to collect about 20,000 pounds.
