Created robot climber for inspection of wind turbines

Usually, wind turbines inspect for damage in two ways: either someone standing on the ground, looking at the design of binoculars or a telescope, or a mechanical engineer personally crawling over the top rope and checks if everything is in order. As you can guess, the first method is ineffective, and the second is very dangerous. On this occasion located in the state of Wisconsin Helical Robotics company decided to offer an alternative method of inspection of wind turbines — climbing robots mounted panoramic camera.

For vertical lift rather slippery metal surface of the tower series robots HR-MP uses magnets that are installed directly in their wheels. This robot is controlled remotely by a human from earth and does not require connecting any wires. Is easy and secure. Another benefit of these robots is its size: it weighs 19 kilograms and compact dimensions it can be much closer and safer to crawl to the difficult and necessary for exploring the areas near the blades of the wind turbine.

Moreover, the robot is able to lift cargo of different additional sensors weighing up to 9 kilograms. The rate of its ascent is about 13.3 meters per minute. And five nikodimovich magnets allow the robot to crawl as flat and uneven surfaces.

If you have already gathered to inspect your personal wind turbine, we hasten to warn that the cost of such a robot starts from 19 $ 995 and depends on the installed equipment.
