In China, there was a library with a slide for children

In China, in the province of Yunnan appeared a very unusual library in one of the provincial cities. A few years ago, the city library was seriously damaged, and therefore in 2012, it was moved to a temporary building. One of the main attractions of the library is a children's slide.

The library was built of wood as well as some plastic building materials. It is very small in itself, but it is visited by many local children. It so happened that the library was built right on the place where it was planned to create a staircase to another quarter of the city. In order not to destroy the library, it was decided to improvise and a wooden platform appeared on the library building (albeit entrusted) resembling a tree-paved slide. According to the preliminary idea, this platform was supposed to serve as a lift, but the local children found it much better use and began to ride from it like a slide.

About this interesting “incident” learned at the University of Hong Kong and several students together with teachers have developed a project of a roof slide for the library. Soon the old wooden structure was replaced by a new, more perfect one. So, the library in Yunnan received a new roof, the local children a new slide, and the locals a good, albeit rather sharp climb near the city wall, leading from one block to another. Librarians constantly complain about the noise of children rolling from above, but noted that they did not have fewer visitors.

Such a funny installation in Yunnan Province is proof that wooden buildings can still play a good role in the XXI century. Wood, as a building material, is in the top five among designers and architects, including green ones.
