Hybrid Skylys - electric car soaring in the sky

The dream of flying cars began in the 1960s. Then the animated series “The Jetsons” appeared on the screens, which showed a future where the sky was literally filled with aircraft. There have been several real-world prototypes of flying cars in the past few years, but none of them look as unusual as the Skylys, a flying car from Mix Aerospace.

Although the project is still in its early stages, it is already visible that the Skylys flying car, which Mix Aerospace plans to launch into mass production, will be similar to the TF-X flyer from Terrafugia. But in the new concept there are several significant differences. The Skylys is a four-wheeled electric car that drives on the road just like any car. But complete with the electric car, a lift unit with several screws will be supplied. When the driver gets into a traffic jam, or when you need to quickly get somewhere, you can attach to the car this removable unit with wings and take off like a helicopter.

Also unlike other flying car concepts, which are too big for crowded cities, the Skylys concept, based on a miniature electric car, is great for huge metropolises like New York. Mix Aerospace explained that the main idea was to “simplify the process of moving between airports, for example, in Brazil or Dubai.” The authors of the project also want to relieve traffic in cities and allow people to save time.

Mix Aerospace predicts the Skylys flying car will be used by police, firefighters, ambulances or rescue workers. The company is now looking for $3 million to implement its ambitious project. If the development team manages to find the money, the first Skylys will take to the sky in 2018.
