In Scotland earn powerful data center from biomass energy
The capacity of the DPC will be about 8 MW, and the fuel will be biomass derived from wood waste. To build it will be the specialists of the company AOC Group, that are willing to spend 40 million pounds ($67 million). It will be a commercial data center, and one of the main tenants will be the local municipality.
Under the data center will be converted into part of an abandoned pulp and paper mill. Server, network and cooling equipment of the data center will receive power from the power stations on clean fuel.
"The authorities Glenrothes strongly support this project, guided not only by the fact that it opens new opportunities for employment temporarily unoccupied IT specialists, but also because this project will allow to restore the old factory," said the Deputy head of the Municipal Council Glenrothes and a representative of the Department for economy and planning Lesley Laird.
