Steroid rosacea or dermatitis due to steroid therapy

Rosacea is a type of neurodermatitis (angioneurosis) with different etiology. Among the factors provoking the disease, both the causes of violation of internal homeostasis of the body (hormonal imbalance, autoimmune diseases, chronic diseases of the gastrointestinal tract) and external factors (chronic effects of too high or low temperatures, skin damage demodecosis, the presence of Helicobacter pillory associated diseases) are called.
Consider an example of steroid-induced rosation.

In the photo, an example of a characteristic red papulo-pustular rash, which appeared due to prolonged use of glucocorticosteroid ointment. All steroid ointments or creams (triderm, dermoveit, betasalik, hydrocortisone ointment, lorindene, synaflan, oxycort, celestoderm and others) carry a potential danger of developing symptoms characteristic of steroid dermatitis, regardless of the concentration of the steroid contained. Characteristic skin manifestations of steroid therapy are extensive erythema of dark red color, areas of subatrophied, thinned and flaky skin, on the surface of which telangiectasia and papulo-pustular elements of the rash appear.

Treatment
First of all, when using steroid external therapy, it is important to remember that this is an ambulance drug, and prolonged or daily use is a strict contraindication. Therefore, the first point of therapy will be the abolition of steroid cream. Cancel it with caution, gradually reducing the number of times the drug is applied, possibly with the subsequent transition to a less concentrated steroid agent.
Also prescribe metronidazole inside and in the form of ointments, antihistamines and external antibiotic therapy in the presence of indications or a complicated form of rosation (tetracyclines or erythromycin).
Together with drug therapy, it is recommended to follow a diet with the exception of "irritating" dishes, red wine and cheeses, red fruits, hot dishes and drinks are excluded. Sedatives of soft action and compliance with sleep and wakefulness.
Steroid rosation is considered by some authors as a separate independent disease, but despite the severity of the course and the duration of its treatment, with proper and complex therapy, all manifestations of dermatitis can be completely reversible.
