Energy efficient house in the vicinity of the Blue Ridge

Country house, built by the architectural bureau Robert M. Gurney Architect, is located on a plot of 10 hectares in Virginia, in the vicinity of the Blue Ridge. Its design is made in the form of linearly arranged rectangular volumes, positioned in such a way as to provide the best view of the mountain landscape. In addition, the strict geometric silhouette of the building emphasizes the undulating natural landscape of the area. Wood, glass, fibrocement panels and natural stone were used as building materials. In order to reduce the consumption of non-renewable energy resources, the house is equipped with a modern heating and ventilation system based on geothermal energy.
