Recently opened in Kazan, the Russian stage of the world robot Olympiad ("World Robot Olympiad" — WRO). Recall the "World Robot Olympiad" is one of the biggest events in robotics in the world and, since 2004, attracts thousands of participants from many countries of the world — winners of the national stages of the Olympics.

The right to be the national operator of the "World Robot Olympiad" got created in Tatarstan Innopolis University. The General partner of the Russian stage of the Olympiad which is held with the support of the Government of Tatarstan, Ministry of Informatization and communication of RT and the Ministry of education and science of the Republic, is the state Corporation rostec.

Arrived in Kazan more than 700 participants from 41 Russian regions, including Crimea and Sevastopol, as well as Kazakhstan. The age of robotics — from 5 to 20 years. Participants compete in 6 categories. In the framework of the national round will be played on 58 of the cups.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the event, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said that Tatarstan pays great attention to the development of robotics and IT technologies. He expressed hope that the participants of the national round will pay attention to Kazan and opportunities available here. The new University, which is organized on the basis of Innopolis, Kazan Federal University and other universities of the Republic, the robotics Center to be established in the Republic, — all this, in opinion of RT President, should attract promising young people to Tatarstan.

The Minister of education and science Dmitry Livanov at a press conference held at the end of the ceremony, said: "the Interest of students, schools, regions for robotics is increasing. We believe this is extremely important because it is one of the technical, creative, engineering, which determines the future of any economy, including ours. It is extremely important to have new production, new factories, but they will naturally be created by those engineers who will come out of our schools, will graduate and come into production."

The winners of the Russian stage will take part in the world competition, which will be held this year in Russia, namely in Sochi. It is expected that the competition will be attended by representatives from 50 countries. The organizing Committee of the world robot Olympiad is headed by the Minister of communications and mass communications of the Russian Federation Nikolai Nikiforov and Minister of education and science Dmitry Livanov.
