Developed a new turbine for electricity generation

Scientists from one of the American organizations were able to develop a plant that will produce a large amount of energy. The new turbine runs on the energy of the ocean and does not harm the environment.

The low-frequency turbine, called the Ocean Energy Turbine, is equipped with a high-torque generator. This unit can be placed on the bottom of the ocean or sea. The turbine through the use of underwater currents will generate electricity.

Crowd Energy specialists report that such a turbine, being at a depth, can be reliably protected from various kinds of natural disasters. It is also important that the material used in the manufacture of the turbine, as a rule, is not at risk of corrosion and allows you to operate the plant for a long time.

American experts conducted calculations to assess the energy efficiency of using sea and ocean currents. According to such calculations, 1/1000 of the potential of such a well-known ocean current as the Gulf Stream will provide electricity demand for 35% for the electric grids of the US state of Florida.

At the same time, the calculations of specialists of the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management organization allow us to conclude that if we adjust the use of energy of all currents in the World Ocean, then the electricity generated can be enough for the whole world.

In addition, the large Australian state of South Australia intends to fully meet its electricity needs from renewable sources from 2030. By 2020, 33% of electricity needs in the region will be met by renewable electricity. It is possible to use installations that generate electricity in the depths of the ocean.

According to experts, in the future 3 GW will be obtained through wind generation, and it is also planned to equip two-thirds of private homes with solar panels. In addition, it is possible to build one solar power plant and a modern battery station, as well as large solar power plants owned by local authorities and companies.

It is possible that additional tidal power plants and geothermal installations will be built. South Australia currently meets 31% of its renewable energy needs. 69% of electricity comes from coal and gas power plants. Solar panels installed on the roofs of private homes currently produce only 4% of the Australian state’s total energy mix.
