The longest residential building in the world, Karl-Marx-Hof is located in the district of Heiligenstadt in the Austrian capital Vienna. Built between 1927 and 1930 by city planner Karl Enom, colossal building is 1,100 meters long, has four tram and blotches of several tunnels. It was included in the design as the continuation of city streets and traffic flow. It was one of approximately 400 new municipal apartment complexes built by the social Democrats, to provide housing for thousands of families lost their homes after the First world war.
