"Green" fire station in Chicago

Architectural firm DLR Group has built a garrison of fire protection in the city of Chicago. Thanks to involved in the project "green" technologies and concepts, this facility became the first fire station in Illinois who received the environmental certificate, LEED Platinum. On the area of 1850 m2 is the compartment for fire vehicles, sleeping rooms for staff, changing rooms, kitchen, dining room, gymnasium and other necessary facilities. The list used in the project of environmental technologies includes the heating system, implemented on the basis of geothermal sources, a green roof, a system of collecting rainwater that is used for car washing and irrigation, as well as highly efficient thermal insulation.
