Pentagonal Eco-Museum in Taiwan
Pentagonal Museum in Taiwan
Renowned Japanese designer and architect Shigeru Ban presented his new concept for TMFA – Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts. The Japanese concept won the competition, which means that the project will be implemented in Taiwan in the coming years. The new work of the architect presented it in a somewhat unexpected light, however, the TMFA project had many “traditional” notes for the designer.
First of all, it is worth recalling that today Shigeru Ban is one of the most successful and authoritative architects in the field of environmentally friendly, fastest construction with minimal resources. The new project for TMFA largely meets these criteria. As for Shigeru himself, she came to him after the development of a refugee camp made of paper, wood, cellophane and durable materials.
The new museum will be made in the shape of a pentagon. Its building will consist of many modules and blocks, each of which can also be broken up into sections inside. The whole complex will be under a glass dome, given the diversity of the museum, it turns out a kind of museum in the museum. In addition to the pavilions in the new TMFA will be exhibition areas, observation platforms, cafes, recreation areas and much more.
More importantly, the new TMFA complex will implement numerous energy-saving technologies. Part of the water needs of the building will be met by collecting and purifying rainwater. It will be assembled by special units on the roof. The dome of the building will be hung with solar panels. Finally, the museum will have natural, not artificial ventilation, the efficiency of which will be ensured by the architectural specifics of the complex. Also in the museum itself, and in the areas next to it, trees and shrubs will be planted.
