The metro station, similar to art gallery

Metro station in Naples (Italy).

Many at the word "metro" appear not the most positive associations: the bustle, the crowd, everywhere posters and trading stalls. But, it is necessary to descend the subway in Naples (Italy) before my eyes a quite different picture: the subway station resemble there real works of art.

Over the last 10 years in Naples appeared in 14 art stations. Initially, the city authorities came up with the idea to make transportation hubs subways more attractive. Under the guidance of Achille Bonto Oliva, former Director of the Venice Biennale, "gray" subway station turned into art gallery of modern art.

Metro station "Toledo".

Perhaps one of the most beautiful is the metro station of Toledo (the Toledo Metrо), which was opened in September 2012. It is under one of the busiest shopping streets of Naples. The design was designed by Spanish architect Oscar Taskers Blanca (Oscar Tusquets Blanca). Dominant was the theme of "water and light" displayed in a wonderful mosaic, laid out across the surface of the station.
