Researchers from Iran's Shahid Sadoughi University conducted an interesting experiment. 88 women at different stages of obesity were divided into two groups. First made up a diet for three months, the second one prescribed the same diet, but subjects asked to eat one teaspoon (three grams) of cumin a day.
The experiment lasted three months. And it turned out that members of the first group lost an average of three months to six kilos, and the second a 7.5.
But there are even more impressive facts. Those women who dieted with cumin, threw in three months, almost 15 percent of all fat reserves in the body. The first control group, this figure was less than 5%. In other words, if you add the cumin to the traditional diet, the fat will burn three times faster.
The researchers found other benefits of this spice. First, the second group the level of harmful fats in the blood fell by 23 points, while in the first place — only five points. The level of "bad" cholesterol when used in a seed fell in two times faster than those who relied only on diet.
Why is this happening? Well, first, cumin is rich in phytosterols — substances that inhibit the absorption of cholesterol in the body. Secondly, cumin, like other hot spices, could temporarily increase the speed of metabolism.
How to use it?
1. Add a few teaspoons of the crushed caraway seeds in a favorite fried vegetarian dishes. It goes particularly well with sweet potatoes, pumpkin, carrots and cauliflower.
2. Blend ground cumin with chili powder, and red pepper. It will be a nice mixture of seasoning for soup and other dishes.
3. Sprinkle crushed cumin roasted nuts.
