Power in the form of a kite

In sports have long used the power of kites, such as kite surfing. In the future such flying devices will also be able to produce energy. A prototype of a flying wind power plant is currently testing the Swiss firm TwingTec.
The principle of operation of the flying wind turbine is as follows: when the serpent force of the wind goes up, unwound the rudder cables and drive the two coils. They are connected to a generator that produces electricity through the movement. When the aircraft reaches its maximum height, it is attracted back, and the cycle starts again. The process of attraction consumes only 5% of the energy produced so the excess could then go to grid.
Compared to traditional wind turbines, the method has certain advantages: the serpent reaches high altitudes (several hundred metres) and there use for energy production stronger and more stable in the wind. Founder TwingTec Rolf Luchsinger also notes that this installation is very mobile. "The entire system can be transported in the van and make it ready for use within hours," says Luchsinger.
The firm plans to present to the market first, is that small a kite for energy production in two years. He will be able to provide electricity to 45 households. However, the firm already working on the creation of a large and powerful flying wind turbine.
