This refrigerator allows you to store products without electricity

To keep our food fresh requires a huge amount of electricity. But in some cases, you can do without it.

To extend the shelf life of perishable products, you can use the natural thermal insulation of the Earth, placing them deep under the surface layer of the soil. This concept is promoted by the Dutch company Weltevree. Created by its engineers, the Groundfridge refrigerator does not need electricity and is a modern look at the concept of storing food in the cellar.

Groundfridge is similar to a traditional cellar, and this is part of the Dutch concept, but it has a trump card that increases the efficiency of cooling products: in addition to the thermal insulation effect of the soil layer (about 1 meter thick), engineers used the cooling effect of groundwater.

The temperature in the refrigerator remains stable all year round and fluctuates between 10 and 12 °C, making Groundfridge ideal for storing fruits, vegetables, wine and cheese.
