The number of newly registered electric vehicles increased between 2012 and 2014 twice each year. This market analysis was conducted by the Research center for solar energy and hydrogen Baden-württemberg (ZSW) in Germany.

In 2014 according to the global accounting was leading the following models: Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-In (26 000), Nissan Leaf (57 000) and Tesla Model S (28 000).

Among the countries leader in the US with 290,000 electric vehicles, ahead of Japan (100,000), and China (nearly 100 000). The ratio between electric vehicles and conventional vehicles, however, Norway is a world leader: here, the share of electric vehicles is 1.6%.
