Electric Greyp G12S. The two-wheeled supercar is even better.
In 2013, the Croatian company, which presented the world with an electric 1088-horsepower hypercar Rimac Concept One, released a two-wheeled “version” called the Greyp G12. At the Salon Privé 2015 earlier this month, its Greyp Bikes division revealed an updated electric bike model, the Greyp G12S, which retains most of the innovative features of the previous G12, but has a more energy-intensive battery, new suspension and revised geometry.
Externally, the G12S remained very similar to the first model, but the most attentive will immediately catch the eye of a new powerful rear shock absorber, as well as a single (instead of two for the G12) disc brake. Greyp says many of the changes are hidden under the carbon-fiber body of an electric bike and some updates are more likely to be felt than seen.
But let's start from the beginning. First, the 19-inch electric bike frame was completely revised. It still consists of 25CrMo4 alloy steel pipes, but its geometry has been revised to accommodate all the changes included in the new model in the electrical components hidden behind the carbon panels. Instead of the two battery modules used in the G12, the new G12S uses only one unit. It offers more power but also reduces the overall weight of the bike. Since it is located at the bottom of the frame, this allows you to move the center of gravity closer to the surface.
The new 84-volt battery with a rated capacity of 1.5 kW (G12 model figures: 64 volts and 1.3 kW) charges from a conventional home outlet in just 80 minutes. Developed by engineers at Rimac Automobili, it uses Sony’s lithium-ion cell, supports a smart power tuning system, and promises a minimum of 1,000 recharge cycles before failure.
The battery feeds an electric motor located on the rear wheel. The bike offers three modes of operation (like the previous model). From 250W Street mode to 12kW Power mode. In general, depending on the chosen mode, the battery can take up to 120 km of track, but there is always the option to add a couple of dozen more if you pedal yourself from time to time, rather than relying only on an electric motor.
One of the great features of the G12S (as well as the previous model) is the regenerative braking system, which, according to Greyp, allows you to charge the battery when braking. In case of emergency braking, the G12S is equipped with radially located four-piston hydraulic calipers Shimano on both wheels.
The maximum speed in Power mode is limited to 70 kilometers per hour. In Street mode, the maximum speed of the G12S is 25 kilometers per hour, which meets the requirements of the law distinguishing electric bicycles from electric motorcycles and scooters in Europe.
Like its predecessor, the new 48.5-kilogram G12S is designed for both urban and country trips. Greyp worked to make the electric bike cope with the tasks assigned to it and equipped it with a new customizable suspension Rockshox. It includes the Vivid R2C rear shock absorber and Boxxer RC plugs with a stroke of up to 200 mm (on the G12 model, the shock absorbers traveled 180 mm).
One of the most notable features of the G12S is a 4.3-inch color touchscreen display with an integrated fingerprint scanner. As in the case of the previous model, it can be programmed to recognize the fingers of several users at once, as well as different fingers of the same user. In this case, it will be possible to choose driving modes.
Orders for the new G12S are now being accepted. And all is well in this electric bike, if not for its price starting at $9,400. When buying with the help of a configurator, you can choose the setting of several preset modes at once, as well as any of the favorite colors of the side carbon panels, rear shock absorber and wheels. For a small additional fee, the G12S electric bike will be equipped with Maxxis Hookworm off-road tires and splashers. published
P.S. And remember, just changing our consumption – together we change the world!
