LEXUS : electric car made of cardboard

Automotive engineers are constantly searching for new materials that can make vehicles lighter. But to make a vehicle from cardboard sheets? It is something beyond good and evil. However, two employees of Lexus decided to bring their idea to life and really created a cardboard electric car based on the model of the Lexus IS Saloon.

Of course, the engine, the chassis and some other parts made of other materials, but as you can see in the official video below, most of the car really were carefully cut from sheets of cardboard, and then glued together layer by layer. Even the wheels – a multi-layered construction of cardboard patterns. In total the car took about 1700 cardboard details that were cut from sheets using a laser.

Engineers-enthusiasts took more than three months to gather your origami car. To ride on this car is unlikely to succeed because of obvious reasons, but as the fruit of engineering genius, hard work and creative thinking this hack it is possible to put in the car showrooms of the company to the delight of the audience.

P. S. And remember, only by changing their consumption — together we change the world! ©
