Mercedes will launch a sub-brand for electric vehicles

Mercedes-Benz is going to launch a separate sub-brand, under which will be produced electric cars.





At the moment, the leadership of the German automaker chooses a name for its future electric range. Earlier it was reported that Mercedes is developing a new platform that will underpin at least four models with fully electric propulsion systems — two sedans and two SUVs.

According to unofficial data, the architecture will be called EVA. It will apply a number of components modular chassis MRA that is used for families C-Class and S-Class. The Germans intend to invest in the project about two billion euros.

The first prototype will debut in October 2016 at the Paris motor show. It will be a midsize SUV, the production version of which will be able to compete with Tesla Model X. Crossover can pass without recharging the batteries for about 500 kilometers.





Serial production of electric vehicles will establish the enterprise in Bremen. On the same plant will produce a new modification of the crossover GLC with the power plant on hydrogen fuel cells.

A prototype of the Mercedes-Benz GLC F-Cell was presented in June 2016. The SUV received two fuel tanks for hydrogen gas station which is three minutes.
