Pioneers of the USSR

Pioneer movement - activities for children of communist organizations in the USSR and other socialist countries. Having some similarity to previously arisen Scouting Pioneer movement differs in essential respects: there were separate organizations for boys and girls, summer camps, and the Palace of Pioneers, which number thousands, funded by the Government and trade unions, recreation and they were absolutely free, millions of copies were printed pioneering newspapers and magazines. In the Soviet Union Pioneer Organization was founded decision National Conference Komsomol May 19, 1922. Prior to 1924 Pioneer Organization bore the name of Spartacus, and after the death of Lenin was renamed in the Young Pioneer Organization of the Soviet Union.
